Mid week music picks

Hey all ...

If you're looking for music tonight, here's a few to check out:

Downtown?
Bre Gregg's Red Bird is at the No Vacancy Lounge. Excellent band with one of my favorite voices in town playing at a very promising and relatively new venue that was just named Bar of the Year by Willamette Week. What's the music like? "Red Bird plays extraordinarily soulful roots music. If you're not sure what that is imagine that Bonnie Raitt and Tom Waits had a love child and named her Red Bird." Check it out ... 8:30 pm, $5

Speaking of vocalists in town, some would say there's no finer than Rebecca Kilgore. She'll be at the Jack London Review with guest Shirley Nanette ... 8 pm, $10

Westside?
Kris Deelane will be at McMenamin's Grand Lodge ... 7 pm, no cover

Northeast?
Check out Cascade Zydeco's 5th Wednesday Blues Night with Sister Mercy at the Secret Society ... 7 pm, $12

Or how about Soul Cookin' (Jones, Weinberg, Kahl, and Foxworth) at Spirit's Pub in Cully ... 8:30 pm, no cover

Southwest?
Monterey Purple is doing a farewell gig tonight at McMenamin's Old Church in Willsonville ... 60s and 70s psychedelic and more ... 8 pm, no cover

Get out to some live local music!
