In addition to the usual Thursday shows that I seem to unavoidably mention (Lewi at Laurelthirst at 6pm, Stephanie Schneiderman followed by the Mel Brown B3 Organ Band at Jimmy Mak's at 7pm ... to name a couple), I'd like to point out two shows happening tonight.
First is an all-ages, Music in the Schools benefit at the Wonder Ballroom. Music in the Schools raises money for high school music programs in Portland and is run by Portland high school students. Money for a very good cause! ... 8 pm, $10
There's an Italian restaurant in Milwaukie that serves up some tasty jazz every Wednesday through Saturday.... Arrivederci is a cool little outpost of great music on the southeast side of town ..... there's no cover and tonight you can see a fine trio of the wonderful Dave Frishberg, John Gross, and Charlie Doggett ... 7pm, no cover
Also ... in jazz, Ron Steen does an invitational jam tonight at Doc George's Jazz Kitchen ... 8 pm, no cover
