Looks like theYankees - Angels game will get rained out, so I won't have any conflict getting out early tonight. Yeah, I'm a baseball fan too, and October is playoff time ... which can make it challenging to get out - even when there's so much good music going on.
But shouldn't have that problem tonight, and there's some great shows to choose from ...
Saturday happy hour at the Laurelthirst has Little Sue & Lynn Conover @ 6 pm.
It's adventures in jazz at the White Eagle tonight with Blue Cranes ... 9:30 pm, $6
Second night of Blitzen Trapper at the Doug Fir ... 9:30 pm, $13
My pick show for tonight is Norfolk and Western and The Golden Bears at The Woods. N&F are back in Portland after a month-long tour supporting Mirah (who will be at Mississippi Studios on Monday night), and if you haven't heard them tonight's a great opportunity at a cool little venue in Westmoreland (on Milwaukie Ave, 2 blocks north of SE Bybee). ... 9 pm, $8
For something a little different, my friend Steve Price - a viola player with the Portland Symphony - is doing his annual recital tonight at the Old Church. He always puts this together with some stellar players and chooses a range of pieces (from classical to pop) to present. It's a lot of fun and always a full house ... 8pm, free
See ya out and about . . . unless I'm watching baseball.

Missed you last night. Lewi band had Bingo play with them for whole night. Great show as usual.
I'm heading to the Crystal tonight for Umphrey's McGee. MANY friends will be at Mississippi Studios for Assembly of Dust and the Emmitt/Nershi band.

Good add with those two shows tonight . . . both should have been on the list!
I was at Mississippi Studios last night, thought I might get a chance to stop by the 'Thirst, but it didn't happen.
