Hardly Strictly Day 2

Wow ... this is pretty unbelievable ... can't imagine a better run - logistically, musically - event - particularly when it was probably the biggest crowd I've ever seen at a festival.  Seriously impressive. Quick highlight - Trombone Shorty jumpstarting the day with a killer set that had the crowd dancing at the Star Stage at 11 am ... caught partial sets of Band of Heathens, Hot Tuna (sounding excellent), Guy Clark, songwriters (Steve Earle, Robert Earl Keen, John Doe, David Olney), Richard Thompson (guitargasmic) ... then full set of Buddy Miller which was highlight of the day for me.  Variously joined by Jim Lauderdale, Emmylou Harris, and Patty Griffin and with a band that included Stuart Duncan on fiddle and Joel Guzman on accordion, he delivered a really satisfying set .... couldn't be better. Ended the day with Steve Earle and the Dukes, who just rocked the Banjo Stage til the sun (not that we could see it) was down.  Wow ... and one more day left - planning to catch Elvis Costello, Randy Newman, Nick Lowe, Emmylou and we'll see who else might work in ... pretty amazing.
