More benefit shows this weekend

Recovery work in Haiti, helping a musician with medical bills, supporting music education - musicians are pitching in and lending their services ... and asking you to show up, buy a ticket, contribute more where you can. So here's three this weekend where your dollars will support causes both local and global.

Tonight at the Laurelthrist Lewi Longmire and Little Sue have put together a fundraiser for Jimmy Boyer. Jimmy suffered a ruptured hernia in late December leaving him unable to play gigs and earn money for the time being. This is to help. Musicians participating include: Billy Kennedy, Tim Acott, Miss Jessie Spero, Michael Hurley, James Low, Michael Jodell, Mike Danner, Michael Dean Damron, Little Sue, Lewi Longmire, Ed Gibson, Lex Browning, Roger North, Dave Reisch, Emily Butler, Jack Hawk, and many more!  9:30 pm, $10 sliding scale.

In Peter's Room at Roseland tonight it's PG3. Portland Guitar Three features Jennifer Batten, Terry Robb, and Geoff Metts in an electric guitar showcase and benefit for Parkrose K-12 Music Boosters. This event will showcase the unique stylings of three NW guitar masters, while helping support NW music education. And ticket holders are entered in a raffle for an autographed Fender Stratocaster ... 8pm. $18

And the Portland Blues community pitches in for Mercy Corps' relief efforts in Haiti on Sunday evening with a benefit show at The Refectory (1618 NE 122nd). Jim Wallace and the Housecats, Lloyd Jones, Dover Weinberg, Lisa Mann, Suburban Slim, Stu Kinzel, Terry Robb, A.C. Porter & Big Noise, and Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes along with many more great musicians will have the place jumpin' and hopefully raising a whole lot of cash. There will be auction and raffle items too, curtesy of Music Millennium ... 6 pm, no cover, but give what you can and all the proceeds go to Mercy Corps.

And the music community thanks you for your compassion and generosity!
