Mid-week music

Tuesday
Second chance to check out Steve Kerin and friends at the White Eagle. Last week was big fun with Tahoe Jackson and JR Pella joining the band for some inspired vocals. It's for those kinds of moments that you just gotta be there. A different guest every Tuesday through October will help the band perform some inspired Louisiana roots dance music (New Orleans style blues and r & b, zydeco, Cajun). This week it will be Bob Shoemaker, one of the finest slide guitar players in town. Maybe see ya there . . . 8 pm, no cover

Wednesday
The Monsters of Folk tour rolls into town for a date at the Schnitz. Connor Oberst, Jim James, Mike Mogis and M Ward pooled their respective talents and took it on the road. . . . 8 pm, $43

Reggie Houston's Box of Chocolates will keep the happy hour crowd happy at the Laurelthirst . . . 6 pm, no cover

. . . and will be followed by the Piano Throwers for the 9:30 show. Fun night at the 'Thirst . . . $??

Little Sue has her weekly happy hour at Biddy McGraw's . . . 6 pm, no cover

If you're a fan of singer/songwriter/author John Wesley Harding, don't miss his show at Mississippi Studios tonight. An engaging storyteller, wry humorist and insightful songwriter, Wes is eminently entertaining. . . . 8 pm, $15
