Waterfront Blues Festival starts tomorrow!

It's not summer in Portland without the Waterfront Blues Festival. Though the festival has been going through some transition this year, it's still supporting the Oregon Food Bank (though losing OFB's staffing support of the festival). It's still the biggest festival in Portland and you can't beat the setting downtown on the river in Waterfront Park.

If you want to learn more about the changes and preview some of the cool acts coming this year, check out this Oregon Music News interview with the guy who books the festival, Peter Dammann (recorded a couple months back).

Here's the full schedule by day and artist bios and descriptions.

If you head down on Wednesday try not to miss Jon Koonce and the Lost Cause, Larkin Poe, and Robert Randolph. On Thursday check out Okropong, Johnny Rawls, Dirty Revival, and The Revivalists. Friday (my fave day this year!) brings the Cajun and zydeco with Dexter Ardoin, Chubby Carrier, Horace Trahan the Pine Leaf Boys, and more. Also Friday catch Seth Walker, Nikki Hill, Curtis Salgado, Marc Broussard, and The Mavericks! On Saturday the Cajun and zydeco continues with the same acts, plus you can catch Kevin Selfe's Big Band, David Vest, Ranky Tanky, Ruthie Foster, and The Motet.

And come over to the Louisiana Pavilion at the Front Porch Stage ... lots of cool stuff to explore with the Mysti Krewe of Nimbus and various organizations representing Louisiana and more!
