Early music? How about James Low solo at Kouzina (no cover), or Pete Krebs & his Portland Playboys at the Secret Society ($6) - both from 6 - 8. Or head to Edgefield for The Resolectric at 7 (no cover).

A classical performance take on the music of Eliott Smith? Why not ... tonight Third Angle Music and Hand2Mouth Theater will be doing just that at the Alberta Rose ... 7:30 pm, $35

In my corner of the SE world, the Junebugs are at the Muddy Rudder (8 pm, no cover) and James Clem is at Wine30 in Milwaukie (7:30 pm, no cover)

Turtle's Guitar Mafia (including Terry Robb) is at the Rock Creek Tavern ... 8 pm, no cover - BTW, Turtle VanDemarr brings the Guitar Mafia to a week's residency at Al's Den starting Sunday night at 7 - with a bunch of special guests.

Kris Deelane & the Hurt are at the Gemini Bar and Grill in Lake O ... 9 pm

At the Doug Fir, it's a 10 Year Anniversary and Reissue Release Show for Federale's "La Rayar." The show features a lineup of Fluff and Gravy Records artists - Federale, Fernando, and Evan Way (of The Parson Red Heads) ... 9 pm, $14

Reggie Houston's Crescent City Connection is at the Jack London Revue ... 9 pm, $20

And, it's a Sister Mercy birthday celebration at Catfish Lou's ... 9 pm

Saturday - 
Need an afternoon hit ... Left Coast Country is at the Alberta Street Pub at 2 pm.

How about a weekend double shot of Kris Deelane & The Hurt - this time at Laurelthirst for happy hour ... 6 pm, no cover

Redray Frazier and Ezra Holbrook hold down the happy hour at the O'Neill ... 6 pm, no cover

The Jenny Finn Orchestra is at The Secret Society (6 pm, $6) ... which continues swinging with the Midnight Serenaders and the Bridgetown Sextet (9 pm, $12).

The Whiskey Darlings are at Edgefield ... 7 pm, no cover

At the Aladdin its the celebrated folk trio Cry Cry Cry. Reunited after 20 years for this spring tour, Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky and Dar Williams - all fantastic artist on their own - bring their sublime harmonies and songs to town for a very rare treat. It's sold out, but you can always try try try ... 8 pm, $40
