Matt Miner Presents and The Fremont Theater welcome Texas singer-songwriter Eric Taylor and special guest Thad Beckman to Portland Friday, June 23, sponsored by Hearing Health and Paperjam.
Peer into the fabric of Eric Taylor’s music and you’ll spy a peg-leg street corner dancer, a carney boss trapped in a fateful love triangle and a Beat Generation icon behind the wheel of a ‘49 Mercury. Then, there are the darker tales. Eric Taylor is an award-winning songwriter whose songs have been recorded by fellow Texas luminaries Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett and many others.
“[Eric Taylor] is one of the finest songwriters of our time whose songs will be remembered into the next century. His songs are examples of the pure live-giving and healing energy music can bring. They are timeless. Eric Taylor is a treasure of song and story with a twist of Texas.” – No Depression
Kicking off the show is Portland singer-songwriter Thad Beckman. Thad’s adept guitar playing, gritty vocals and ability to tell a tale bring a fresh perspective to familiar themes and emotions. Along the way, his mastery of finger-style, electric and steel guitar earned him attention from fellow musicians.
“Beckman plays an engaging blend of folk, singer-songwriter and blues music. Not everyone can pull off such a combination, but Beckman has chops, writing talent, a big personality and a bag full of true stories which all dovetail for a cool show.” – San Antonio Express
Tickets are available in advance from http://pdxerictaylor.brownpapertickets.com or $20 at the door. Seating is limited. Best bet is early purchase of advance tickets.
