It's the weekend and there's live music in Portland! So what else is new?

Choices, choices ...

Friday night brings choices like:
The Umbrella Festival of Circus and Comedy at the Alberta Rose Theatre. Tonight it's New Vaudeville, tomorrow night it's Dirty Cabaret ... all going to be highly entertaining!

Happy hour at the Laurelthirst has Wheels playing Byrds, Burritos, and Gram Parsons ... 6 pm, no cover. Late show has the Lower 48 and Luz Elena Mendoza ... 9 pm, $??

Dumstafunk will be layin' it down NOLA style at the Aladdin. Oh yeah ...8 pm, $25

Paris Slim is in town and playing the penultimate show at the closing Duff's Garage. Say hi to Slim and bye to Duff's. Tomorrow will be final show. ... 8 pm, $10

And there's an Alvin in town ... Phil with The Blasters at Dante's ... still 100% rockin' ... 9pm, $20

Saturday
The Resoelectrics will have the happy hour dancers movin' at the Laurelthirst ... 6 pm, no cover ... They'll be followed by Fernando with the full band. Yes!  ... 9 pm, $8

Joe Baker & the Kitchen Men will swing the Secret Society happy hour ... 6 pm, $5

There's an all-star lineup of folks joining Jerry Joseph at Mississippi Studios for an Iraq Refugee Benefit ... great music and cause ...

Come out to say farewell to Jon and Jennifer Wallace who are ending 15 years running Duff's Garage, one of the best roots music venues in the city. They'll host the Jumptown Aces and Ben Rice at the final show. Very sorry to see it closing .... 8 pm
