Start up the weekend ... Friday night music

Some really good shows going on around town tonight, including ...


The Siren Nation Festival has multiple shows around town. Tonight at the Alberta Rose they present Melao de Cuba, Luz Elena Mendoza, and Edna Vazquez ... 7 pm, $15

And at Mississippi Studios they present Swan Sovereign, Crushed Out, and Faultlines ... 9 pm, $12; and Liz Vice at the White Eagle ... 9:30 pm, $7

Make the trek to Hillsboro to the Walters Cultural Arts Center for Carlene Carter to celebrate her newest album, Carter Girl. Join the daughter of June Carter-Cash (and step-daughter of Johnny Cash) as she shares stories and beloved songs from one of country music's founding families ... 7:30 pm, $22

Big touring show in town tonight is the fabulous Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Schnitz ... 8 pm, $50 - $80

Also touring through town is Greensky Bluegrass at the Wonder Ballroom ... 9 pm, $23 (and Saturday night too); and JD McPhearson at the Doug Fir ... 9 pm, $18
