Music for a rainy weekend ...

... and a really fine touring singer/songwriter who flies a bit under the radar - Peter Mulvey - is at the Old Church. One of the reasons Milwaukee, WI has a great music scene. Highly recommended! ... 8 pm, $18

Saturday
Two of my favorite Austin residents hit town the same night ... Patty Griffin will play to a sold out house at the Aladdin (8 pm, $45) ... if you don't have a ticket, you can try your luck at the door or via Craigslist.

And, Alejandro Escovedo is at Mississippi Studios. An amazing writer and performer, he'll be backed by Peter Buck (REM and a few other projects you might know) and his band ... 8:30 pm, $25

Moody Little Sister (Naomi Hooley & Rob Stroop) will be at Edgefield ... 7 pm, no cover

The Devin Phillips Quartet is at Wilf's ... 7:30 pm, $10

Fernando has a record release at the Star Theater with Old Light, Mike Coykendall & Little Sue ... 8 pm, $8

The Thara Memory Superband does a soul jazz review at Jimmy Maks ... 8 pm, $18/$20 reserved
