..will be Oct. 6, 4:30 - 7:30 at Lewis and Clark's Alice Flanagan chapel.
On a lighter note, Davis Rogan of Treme fame, plays The Star on Saturday, Maria Muldaur (who I saw on my first date when I was 15 with Jim Kweskin Jug Band...) plays Duff's on Sunday....and then I sneak away to see Wilco at the Britt Festival on Tuesday...I may need a 12 step program for that addiction someday...

This blog will cover my ramblings about upcoming live music in and around Portland and recommendations for getting out to clubs and concerts . . . . and whatever else I feel like blathering about.

R.I.P. Obo Addy...
For those who don't know - Obo Addy, world class musician from Ghana, passed away Thursday from liver cancer. His family has posted information on Caring Bridge: caringbridge.org/visit/oboaddy and have set up an indiegogo page to help raise funds for his funeral costs and medical bills and to help his wife, Susan Hamada travel to Ghana for his funeral as is required of her by tradition. He was an amazing man and musician; I made many drum cases for him to transport his beautiful drums...and he taught us so much about world music.

Teresa James - this week at Music Millennium and Vie de Boheme
One of my very favorite artists and friends in the music business, Teresa James, will be in town this week for two performances ...
With a CD just released last week, she'll be doing an in-store performance and CD signing at Music Millennium tomorrow - Tuesday - at 6 pm.
On Wednesday Teresa and the Rhythm Tramps will be at Vie de Boheme. She'll be joined by some very special guests including a couple of old friends from Houston, where she got her start in the business. This is going to be big fun ... 8 pm, $7 ($5 for CBA members)
Check out a few tracks from her new CD here.
TERESA JAMES AND THE RHYTHM TRAMPS
Teresa's band is an eclectic mix of Los Angeles based musicians who have worked with a wide range of artists including: Jimmy Reed, Eric Burdon, Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Kim Carnes, Jennifer Warnes, Was Not Was, Johnny Nash and many, many others. As one listener put it: "There are no clichés in this band." Together they have created a sound that is funky and greasy, where New Orleans meets Texas blues and everyone has a good time.
