Thursday ... Muddy Awards and more ...

Tonight is the CBA's annual Muddy Awards, celebrating the best in local blues music. It kicks off at 6:30 at the Melody Ballroom and there's lots of great live music as part of the evening. It's free for CBA members and just $5 for non-members. And check out the after-party at Duff's with the Suburban Slim Band and a bunch of guests ... 9:30 pm, $5

Also at 6:30 you can honor your ancestors and hear some great music at the Dia de los Muertos celebration at Holocene ...  $5

Going out for happy hour music ... good choices are Lewi Longmire at the Laurelthirst, or the Libertine Belles at the Secret Society ... both at 6 and no cover.
Another good no cover choice is Pat Kearns and Jeremy Wilson at Al's Den in the Crystal Hotel ... 7 pm

The Doug Fir has an excellent triple bill with Seattle's Sera Cahoone, along with the Parson Red Heads and Desert Noises ... 9 pm, $12

Check out a band that knocked me out at this year's Pickathon, Petunia & the Vipers, at Mississippi Studios ... 9 pm, $12

And one that looks very cool is Cuba's Orquesta Aragon, international ambassadors of all forms of Cuban dance music, at Lola's Room in the Crystal Ballroom ... caliente!...8pm, $35
