It was a fun weekend at Pickathon (with a side trip to Paul Thorn's excellent show at Mississippi Studios on Saturday) ... Mavis Staples was amazing, but I also discovered some bands that were very impressive, including Old Light, Mike & Ruthie (both with gigs in town tonight), Eliot Brood, Joy Kills Sorrow, Grupo Fantasma, AgesandAges, Richard Swift, Fruit Bats, Pokey LaFarge ... and ones I knew who did great sets - Laura Viers, Eilen Jewell, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Pine Leaf Boys ...
But on to some excellent choices for tonight, including:
Stereovision at Music On Main ... 5 pm, free
Dan Reed at Washington Park ... 6 pm, free
Eels at the Aladdin ... 8 pm, $25
Imelda May is at the Oregon Zoo (got a big recommendation on this one - check her out) ... 7 pm, $14
Sassparilla and Frank Fairfield will be at Mississippi Studios ... 9 pm, $10
It's Cuban Night with Dina Martinez and Al Criado at Vie de Boheme ... 8 pm, $5
Swing Papillion @ The Press Club ... 8:30 pm, no cover
Nancy King and Randy Porter will be at Touche ... 8:30 pm, $??
Seattle's Led to Sea is at the Ash Street Saloon ... 8:30 pm, $5
Piano Throwers are at the Laurelthirst ... 9:30 pm, $??
