Thursday means great live music!

It's Thursday, so you know there's going to be some fine choices for heading out to live music.

If you're starting early, head to happy hour music at either Duff's for Pete Krebs and the Portland Playboys (6pm, $2), or the Laurelthirst for Lewi Longmire (6pm, no cover). And always remember to be generous when feeding the tip jar.

Over at Jimmy Mak's it's the very soulful sounds of Mel Brown's B-3 Organ Group (Louis Pain, Dan Balmer, Renato Caranto) ... 8 pm, $5

Lauren Sheehan will be at the Muddy Rudder ... 8 pm, no cover (but a hungry tip jar!)

Ron Steen leads his invitational jazz jam tonight at the relatively new Doc George's Jazz Kitchen (4605 NE Fremont) ...8pm, $??

Rollie Tussing is at Biddy McGraw's ... 9pm, no cover

Nashville-based (but former Portlander) songwriter Craig Caruthers is in town and playing tonight at the Buffalo Gap ... 9 pm, $??

Ron Rogers brings his new band, The Wailing Wind, to Duff's tonight for some dusty Texas flavored Americana .... 9pm, $??

Mississippi Studios hosts the 2nd of two nights with Mike Doughty - fine singer/songwriter some of you might remember from the 90's band Soul Coughing ... 9pm, $20

.... and one more fine singer/songwriter, Anna Coogan (with guests The Ishes and the Lower 48) will be at The Woods. Anna is touring to support her new release, The Nocturnal Among Us ... 9pm, $7

As I said ... it's Thursday - so get out to catch some live music! ... more on the weekend later or tomorrow...
