Some great local show tonight

Beautiful Saturday! ... Enjoy the weather before the week's coming storms slap us back to rainy reality. But after enjoying the sunshine, you should consider these great local music options for Saturday night.

Mississippi Studios celebrates it's one year anniversary of reopening in it's larger incarnation with a free "Swellebration" that includes a host of PDX's best - Tahoe Jackson, Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside, Laura Gibson, Holcombe Waller, Matt Sheahy, Run On Sentence, Adam Shearer, and more .... music starts at 8 pm and will go until late. It's going to be packed, so be patient and kind to the staff that has worked really hard to make it a great venue. Here's wishing them more years ahead!

Over at The Woods there's a great double bill (and another celebration of sorts) - Mike Coykendall's CD release show.  Mike and his band, The Golden Shag, and will be joined by Lewi Longmire and the Left Coast Roasters who will also be celebrating Lewi' birthday! There's excellent story about Mike in today's Oregonian you should check out too ... 9 pm, $7

The soulful Linda Hornbuckle and her fine band are at Jimmy Mak's ... 8 pm, $10

At the Mission Theater there's another CD release show with Mimicking Birds,Tu Fawning, and Ah Holly Fam'ly ... 9 pm, $8

Mary Flower and Alan Hagar will be throwing down some tasty acoustic blues at Halibuts. Nothing fishy about it ... 8 pm, no cover

Lloyd Jones will have your all funked up at the Cascade Bar & Grill in Vancouver ... 9 pm, $??

At the Melody Ballroom it's the 15th Annual Blues Harmonica Summit ... blow your face out! ... 8 pm, $10

Enough! ... Time to head back outside and catch some rays.... See ya at a show ....
