March Madness? Sane choices ...

In the music world (at least in mine), March Madness is what's going in in Austin this week ... SXSW.  Things in P-town at bit more subdued, but plenty to entertain ...

Friday
James Low and Morgan Geer bring a fine pairing of writing and musical sensibility to the Press Club ... 8:30 pm, no cover

It's a triple bill of Hillstomp, Rolling Tussing, and the Yogoman Burning Band at Mississippi Studios ... 9 pm, $10

Woodbrain will be at the Laurelthirst ... 9:30 pm, $5

LaRhonda Steele is at Clyde's Prime Rib ... 9 pm, no cover

Pilar French and Joshua Slamp are at Macadams ... 9 pm, no cover

Sneakin' Out is at the Mock Crest ... 9 pm, no cover

Seattle's Becki Sue and Her Big Rockin' Daddies will have the dancers on the floor at Duff's ... 9:30 pm, $??

... and it's jam band time at the Doug Fir with San Franciso's New Monsoon. Mars Retrieval Unit opens ... 9 pm, $15

Saturday
Though they currently perform infrequently, it's always a treat to be able to catch Amelia. And tonight you can at the Press Club ... 8:30, no cover

Three Leg Torso will be at Tony Starlight's ... 8 pm, $12

Jackstraw and the Freak Mountain Ramblers will have fans at the Goodfoot hoppin' on both feet ... 9 pm, $??

It's the monthly Miz Kitty's Parlour vaudeville show at The Mission Theater ... 7 pm, $12

At Mississippi Studios it's Kurt Hagardorn and The Beautiful Train Wrecks ... 9 pm, $8

And the Doug Fir hosts two nights with Ted Leo and the Pharmacists ... 9 pm, $15
