Another busy night

Weekend music ... let's look at tonight's fine choices ...

Happy hour choices include Woodbrain at the Laurelthirst (6 pm, no cover) and a band from St Louis that I had the pleasure to meet last week in Seattle - the Bottoms Up Blues Gang - is at the Mock Crest ... 6 pm, no cover

Laura Viers is back from a couple months of touring behind her wonderful and critically acclaimed CD, July Flame, and will be in front of an adoring home crowd at Mississippi Studios ... 9 pm, $15

It's another LiveWire Radio recording at the Aladdin ... 8 pm, $20

It's a fine night of jazz at Jimmy Mak's with Blue Cranes and the Sam Howard Band. The latter (composed of Sam on bass, Scott Pemberton, Andrew Oliver, and Russ Kleiner) is celebrating the release of their new CD, The Gettin' Place ... 8 pm, $10

It's a rockabilly rave-up weekend at Duff's with two nights of Deke Dickerson ... Chris comes out from behind the bar to open tonight with his band Chris Olson's High Flyers ...bring your dancin' shoes ... 9:30 pm, $??

The Sugarcane String Band is at Biddy McGraws ... 9:30 pm,  no cover

One of my favorite vocalists in town, Ms. Michael Jodell and friends will be at the Press Club ... 8:30 pm, no cover

...and there's an excellent triple bill at The Woods with Pancake Breakfast, Seth Bernard  & Daisy May, and The Stolen Sweets ... 9 pm, $12

Must be something there to catch your fancy and motivate you out on a Friday night!

Michae Jodell's "friends" will be Ashleigh Flynn and Susie Blue. Cool!
