Chuck Prophet tonight and a heads-up

Excellent show tonight - Chuck Prophet at Mississippi Studios ... 8 pm, $15

There are two shows I want you to keep on your radar for this weekend ...

On Friday is a very cool opportunity to see Teresa James and the Rhythm Tramps, one of my favorite singers with an absolutely crack band. They don't tour much as the band is made up of in-demand session and side players in LA, so when they're around you really don't want to miss them. And this week the opportunity is going to be up close and personal at a rockin' house party - In the House. I've know Teresa and the band since my early trips on Delbert McClinton's Sandy Beaches Cruise. Teresa is a regular - and a crowd favorite who has turned in some of the best sets of music I've seen over the years (no small feat considering the talent that plays on board).  Music goes from 7-10 pm, and the donation at the door is $12. At Mississippi Studios on Sunday night is another of my very favorite artists, Geoff Muldaur.Geoff is simply a master. Guitar player, vocalist, encyclopedic knowledge of American roots music - blues, jazz, folk, country all weave their way through his sound. And stories - he has a few as he's been performing since his days in the coffee houses of Cambridge and Boston in the early 60s. He'll be performing with his old friend and musical compadre, Jim Kweskin (Geoff was a founding member of the Jim Kweskin Jug Band in 1963). Geoff was interviewed on Monday by Terry Gross on Fresh Air. Amazing history, amazing talent ... don't miss this show ... 8 pm, $25
