La Ti Da . . . report from Austin

Big fun last night at Antone's at the first night of Marcia Ball's big birthday bash. The house was rocking in a particularly Louisiana way with Gino Delafose, Steve Riley and Sonny Landreth. Marcia sat in with Steve and his band morphed into Little Band of Gold with the addition of CC Adcock and Dave Ranson. Delafose and Riley had much of the crowd dancing, Sonny had jaws dropping with his distinctive slide work. The silent and live auction brought in more money for HAMM and Sweet Home New Orleans, the two organizations Marcia is raising money for.

It's wonderful to be in Austin with Flaire and so many of our cruise friends . . . and being part of Marcia's celebration. After getting up at 4 am, I was pretty beat by time Sonny got going, so we left before the end of the set, but I'll be ready for tonight's show with Marcia and a host of amazing women - Maria Muldaur, Angela Strehli, Lavelle White, Lou Ann Barton, Tracy Nelson and Sarah Brown . . .and maybe a few unannounced guests. And then more music and an after-party tomorrow afternoon.

Will try to post some photos later or tomorrow . . . or not . . . . Have a great Portland music weekend.
