Instead of (or after) the VP debate

Some good shows to recommend for tonight (Thursday) . . .

Tracy Grammer will be in town tonight and playing a solo show in Hillsboro at the Walters Cultural Art Center. The short drive out on Rt. 26 will definitely be worth it. 8 PM, $17

Singer/songwriter Mark Geary will be at the Alberta Street Pub. Mark splits time between Ireland and New York, and it's been a couple of years since he's been out to the Northwest. Great chance to catch another fine performer who was very impressive when I saw him at Mississippi Studios. 7PM, $12

And there's also a late show at Alberta Street with another excellent Austin-based songwriter, Michael Fracasso. 9:30PM, $10

Mickey Hart and the Global Drum Project will be at the Aladdin. 8 PM, $42

The fine blues of Colin Lake and Wellbottom can be heard tonight at the White Eagle. 8 PM, free

And Lauren Sheehan will be at the Muddy Rudder in Sellwood tonight. 8 PM, free

more on the weekend tomorrow . . . .
